Here are more ideas if you have hit a wall and need some suggestions:

 Some people find each other through newspaper articles about their searches or television shows. Have you tried to get a local newspaper or media interested in your story?

 Are you up-to-date on the current laws in your state as far as access to adoption records? Laws do change and more states are allowing access to records.

 Did you get all hospital records? Sometimes there are clues in the hospital records. If you are a birth mom, you are entitled to your medical records.

 Are you familiar with Polk or City Directories? Many libraries have annual city directories which provide a wealth of information. In addition to a person’s name, phone no. and address, they also include occupations, and sometimes business names. Here is an http://www.ancestry.com/learn/library/article.aspx?article=2397 article on using city directories. Here’s another source for city directories: http://www.uscitydirectories.com/

 How about Classmates.com or Reunion.com? If you do not have a membership, there are many people who do that would be happy to help you. Many high schools and colleges now have on-line alumni groups too.

 Have you enlisted a local library to help you get records? Most public libraries will photocopy obituaries for you and you can trace some family members that way. Some libraries have class yearbooks or annuals and will check them for you and photocopy pertinent pages for you.

 Does your state have birth indexes? If so, they can be very helpful in finding the surname of a birth mother.

 Check out Reunite.com and review all the information that they have available. You may have missed something that may prove useful.

 Does your state have the confidential intermediary program? If so, have you investigated this avenue?

 Have you petitioned the court to release your adoption records? It is worth a try. More people seem to be successful in petitioning the court than in years past.
