I thought this was a great adoption reunion story and I wanted to share it with the blog. The link is http://news.aol.com/strange/story/_a/twins-finally-meet-after-71-years/n20060927192009990005?cid=936 and it is about a set of twins who were born to their natural mother, placed in different foster homes, and eventually placed in an Orphanage. There were kept separated and never in the same room with one another.
Growing up they were both told they were adopted and had a twin. One had searched for 8 years before any significant progress was made. A nun in Chicago who had archival materials from the orphanage provided the searching twin with the name of the people who adopted her twin.
She then hired a genealogist to track her down with the help of public records and newspaper obituaries. The twins shared their first hug on Tuesday in a restaurant not far from where one of the twins resides. There reunion started with a hug and a kiss.

The impression I got from this article is that they always knew of one another. It is also hard, because of all the years they have been apart and missed out on so much throughout each others lives. They are reconnecting and will be creating a new history that they can share with their friends and family.
The article does not mention anything about their natural mother other than that they were born to woman who had been intimate with a married man. Whether or not they know the name of their natural mother or her locality was not mentioned. Unfortunately, based on the twins age, it is possible that the natural mother has passed on. However, it is also a possibility that she is alive and hoping in heart to be found. I hope to see a follow-up article that will share more with us.
