Adoption.com figures prominently in another reunion! I am the world's biggest fan of reunions. Adoptive moms generally get all happy and giddy when someone else adopts, but that is how I feel when I hear about another reunion. Reunions are events that I am always happy to hear about.
The very talented Claudia, a natural mom extraordinaire, just did some brief audio presentations on her blog and the last one was about an adoption reunion that.....dah, dah, Adoption.com helped to bring about. The male adoptee who was reunited talks about going to sleep one night with just one or two siblings and waking up the next day with many siblings. He is now in touch with the siblings that he never knew and enjoying getting to know them.
If the anti-adoption stance bothers you, Claud's site might not appeal to you, but check out
this video piece of hers about a reunion. It is the fourth one down, under:

More to watch... And a nice story...for happy endings!

Before I became somewhat educated about adoption, I thought of adoption reunions being more for younger people. As I continue to learn about reunions though, I am discovering that the interest in reconnecting often increases with age instead of lessening. I used to imagine that an adoptee would search as soon as they reached 18 or 21, or never. Boy, was I ever wrong about that!
Is it surprising to anyone else that the average age for an adoptee to search is the early to mid thirties? How about the fact that people separated by adoption in their 70's or 80's are still interested in reunion? The desire to reconnect certainly does seem to be a compelling one for many people.
I wonder how many birth moms are out there waiting to be found? Details of reunions fascinate me and often warm my heart. I often think of what the birth mom of a friend of mine said to her right after she had been found. "I was hoping that you would find me before I died." My friend's birth mom was in her 70's when she found her.
