Want to do some research? Homework? I have an exercise that I would love as many readers as possible to undertake. Make a trip to your local library or book store, and ask for books on adoption search and reunion. Also, check out the number of books available for people wanting to adopt. Look too for books on birth parents, stories and support. Then come back & let me know what you discover.
If I didn’t know that the numbers of adoption searchers were very high, I might believe that there is not a large enough a market for such books. I have not spoken to any book store managers to verfiy what kind of a market there is for books on search and reunion. Maybe because the subject is so sensitive more people go on-line and order books on search and reunion? I do know that there is a much wider variety of search and reunion books on line.
What prompted this blog was a trip over the weekend to a super-sized book store in the beach town where we spent the weekend. Although I live in a small town; there are several large metropolitan areas nearby, including Los Angeles. However, the book store that we wondered through during our time at the beach was by far the largest book store that I have ever seen. Not only was the width of the space large, the bookstore was 4 stories high. I was loving browsing around checking out the wide variety of books and gift items as well.

Since this bookstore was so oversized, I reasoned that they might have some adoption books that I had not seen previously, so, I decided to check out their selection. I particularly was interested to see what was available on adoption search and reunion.
