This survey is called "What Adult Adopted People Want the World to Know."
Responses will be compiled and conveyed to the attendees at Center For Family Connections' (CFFC) 3rd annual ACTION international conference on post adoption services February 19-21st at the Hotel Marlowe, Cambridge, MA.
For more information,
here are details about the conference.
The Center for Family Connections is run by
Dr. Joyce Maguire Pavao, who is the Founder and CEO. She is also the author of a popular book called
The Family of Adoption . Many of you may recognize Ms. Pavao's name as she is active in adoption circles as both an adoption therapist and educator. She stresses that adoption must be first and foremost about the child.
If you are an adopted person, or know someone who is and would like to take the survey, check out the link above. I checked out the survey, and it asks questions that would be helpful for adoptive parents and others to learn about adopted persons. For an
article written by Dr. Pavao, check this link out.
Dr. Pavao is an adopted person herself and known for the saying below.
"Adoption is not about finding children for families, it's about finding families for children.”

Although some of the questions asked are about adoption search and reunion, others include different questions aimed at determining how adoption has affected adoptees. These questions feature questions which ask if you ever thought about your birth parents while growing up, if adoption was discussed if you were growing up and a several other thought provoking questions. These questions could shed some valuable light on the adoptee experience. I hope that she gets many participants to take this survey, as that will add to the value of the survey. The survey is brief and will not take long. Check it out if you are interested.
