Your inquiry should be for a "close relative," such as "mother," but not "birthmother," because the Salvation Army operated homes for unwed mothers, and it is their policy to maintain confidentiality for these women even though being reunited with offspring was never offered to any birthmother as an option. The records will only be released to the natural mother or the child. They will not accept their party requests.
