Registry Reunion Story

For me, today was a normal day. I went to work, I came home from work, cooked dinner, and spent the evening with my husband. However, for a young man, and his birth mother, today was not the run of the mill day.

This morning, I received an e mail from a man who was born in 1971 and said that he was curious to see if his birth mother is searching for him. He sent this e-mail at 2:06AM. His e-mail contained all his information and I immediately looked it up in the PARR database. PARR had a birth mother who registered a few years ago on March 17th. The information appeared to be a match so I made a phone call to the birth mother to confirm the information.

After speaking with the birth mother who was elated, I phoned the gentleman who had e mailed me and talked with him. He said he had a picture of his birth mother from the mid 1970's and e mailed the photograph to me. Once received, I saved it to my hard drive and e mailed it to the birth mother who confirmed this was indeed her.

After several phone calls back and forth, I was able to connect these two folks who were separated 35 years ago. They were separated when she gave birth to her son at the age of 16 and traveled the adoption journey alone. Tonight though, their paths have crossed again and they have a hopeful and bright future ahead of them together.

My wish to these folks is that they have a wonderful journey together and continue to grow and heal. No words can begin to express what this day means to you and I am sure it is one that you will never forget.

My message to the folks who are searching and reading this blog is not to give up. Continue to hope, open the doors, and register where ever you can register. We have discussed registries on this blog before and yes, they generally don't work BUT they can work. Each person that registers can make them work.

If you are registered with registries, keep track of where you are registered and update your registration when needed. If you move, get married, phone number changes, e-mail changes, or anything at all changes, update your registry.
