Busily working on a writing project a while back, I was concentrating more on it than my blog. So many wonderful topics were in my head, and yet not have enough time to blog about them all. However, as I was researching, I came across several
adoption reunion stories on Reunion.com.
The stories mention that on Reunion.com, there are several ways to search. One way that they allow you to search is by school; another is by name. This could be very useful for several reasons. I have run into a few people that did find their birth mothers through one of the reunion sites.
When you have a name for a birth parent or an adoptee, even if you do not find them on a reunion site you might try emailing someone else at their school who might know them. One interesting and useful point to note is that many reunion sites list women by both their maiden and married names. This can be an extremely useful feature.
Another useful feature of the reunion sites is that they list many of the various schools in a certain state or city. This can give you a starting point if you know the general area in which a birth parent or child attended school. Through the process of elimination, you may find the right school.
You might also check out the possibility a school that you think a birth family might have attended has their own website. High schools and colleges often do, and they have alumni and reunion information available. Sometimes the alumni sections of website are restricted, but not always.
Alumni events on websites sometimes have photos of reunions. One birth dad that I know found several photos of his son at a recent reunion of his high school.
