Korean Focus is a new site that I just discovered that looks promising. An interesting note is that the group includes not solely triad members, but also others interested in all things Korean.
Korean Focus of Metro DC offers information and support to families interested in Korean culture and the Korean American community.....Our members and friends include adoptive families, adopted Korean Americans, and Korean American families.
On this site, I noticed a
request for Asian bone marrow. I have not seen such a request on an adoption site previously, although as I mentioned, this site is not exclusively for Korean triad members.
This section of the Korean Focus site is
for Korean adoptees and provides many interesting links on a variety of subjects. They describe this portion of the site as a place "to find adult adoptee voices about the Korean adoptee experience." There is a list of Korean adoptee blogs, search and reunion links and adoptee organizations to name a few of their offerings.

Reunite.com has a
page re international searching. On that page is a link to a registry for Korean searchers called
Human Find. It provides an English version for adoptees. However, it also provides a Korean version for Korean birth families. Unfortunately, many birth mothers are like I was, and until reunion may not know that registries exist. Hopefully, that will change as adoption searches continue to expand and become more popular.
From what I read, most Korean birth mothers must surely be in desperate straits to feel compelled to not raise their children. Like most birth mothers who make the decision to not parent, in most cases, the lifelong price to be paid is high.
Although I have heard of matches with some of the larger registries like
ISRR and
Reunite.com, I rarely hear of matches through smaller registries. However, at least knowing that a registry is available provides me some small comfort. I appreciate knowing that Korean birth mothers have some means to attempt to find their children. As a mother who has found great peace, comfort and resolution in reunion, I wish the same for all mothers separated by closed adoptions all over the world. I know few will ever know the peace that reunion can provides, but I hope that some will be able to do so.
Please note that this post is under a new section called International Searching - Korea. I hope to add posts soon on searching in other specific countries. Countries that I initially hope to include are Ireland, Greece, Great Britain and Canada.
