A recent article talked about Iowa Governor Thomas J. Vilsack's possible search for his birth mother. The speculation is that he may wait awhile before beginning a search since he is considering a run for the Presidency. I have to admit the thought of a Presidential campaign and an adoption search simultaneously does sound like a full schedule.
I also came across
this discussion which posed some interesting questions. It also answered a question I was pondering as to whether or not we have ever had an adoptee President.
Iowa recognizes Parental Alienation as, "The systematic brainwashing of children with the sole purpose of destroying a loving relationship they once shared with a parent. It deprives children of their right to love and be loved by both parents."

Meanwhile, I also came across
this article about the Governor's proclamation about "Parental Alienation Awareness Day." There is no mention in the proclamation about adoption, but there is mention of children's right to love and be loved by both parents.
I am not suggesting that adoption and divorce custody situations are identical. They are quite different. However, I do find this pretty interesting given that the Governor is an adoptee.
The thought that an adoptee could be in the White House is certainly something to ponder. Our current administration talks about adoption, but I fail to see much understanding of adoption. I do not know how educated Governor Vilsack is about adoption even if he is an adoptee.
However, I have to think he has to have a better understanding of adoption issues than many of our current politicians. I am curious about Vilsack now and think I will see what else I can find on him. I do hope that he decides to search for his birth mother!
