An
earlier blog talked about birth mom Cassie meeting her son on the reality t.v. show "Starting Over" ("SO"). I had been told that the reunion would take place on Friday, April 28, so I watched at lunch that day. No meeting between Cassie and son on that particular episode.
To add to the drama and build-up, the life coaches talked to Cassie to prepare her for reunion, but, the show ended on Friday with her about to walk into a hotel room to meet her son. I checked the program guide though, and it definitely says that their reunion will take place on Monday.
Now I have time to give you some background on Cassie's situation and my involvement with an episode of the show. First, I will tell you about Cassie's story briefly. Cassie appeared on the show about a year ago originally with several goals, one of which was to reconnect with her son.

Cassie grew up desperately poor in rural Alabama and was raised by abusive adoptive parents who were also family members. She has had a tough life, including drinking problems and dropping out of high school. Nearly 19 years ago, she gave birth to a son that she placed in an open adoption. When her son was 3, his adoptive parents closed the adoption on her.
Eventually, she decided to wait until her son was 18 to reconnect with him. Several other CUB members and I met with Cassie as she was exploring the possibility of reuniting with her son. When we met with her, the purpose of our meeting was to share our stories of search and reunion with her. Cassie was ultra concerned about being very cautious about approaching her son in the best possible manner.
