It's now official! DMC, aka Darryl McDaniels, formerly of the legendary rap group Run DMC, is appearing at the
American Adoption Congress Conference this year in Boston. Darryl McDaniels is scheduled to give the
keynote speech this year at the conference. I had heard some months back that Darryl might be at the conference and am glad to confirm that he will be there. This year's conference is the 28th annual Conference. To check out a brochure,

DMC says, “I represent a multitude of people. I have to be the Moses that’s going to go and get the laws changed about the sealed records.”

Nearly a year ago, I had the pleasure
to interview Darryl McDaniels via telephone on behalf of Adoption.com. He was such a treat to chat with - he's open, very funny and engaging. His adoption journey which was originally aired via a documentary on VH1 is a very interesting story as well.
In our interview, I asked Darryl if the roadblocks he encountered have inspired any interest in the open records movement. "Oh yeah," he replied, "we’re gonna go to Congress.
In addition to working towards open records, Darryl has established a group called the
Felix Organization - Adoptees for Children.
The organization's mission is to provide opportunities and new experiences that will enrich the lives of children who are growing up without parents.
When I interviewed Darryl McDaniels nearly a year ago, I was very impressed with his determination to make adoption a mission in his life. At the end of our interview I wrote:
He has the ability to do much good in the adoption community and the world, and I believe that he will.
I am glad to know that Darryl is making good on his intentions and working towards several worthwhile projects in adoption!
