Trips to Seattle are a regular part of my life now, and I hope now that they always will be! Although for years I hated the thought of the City because it reminded me of the saddest event of my life (losing my son to adoption), I now love the area. My son, Chris is there, and I spend time with and get to know him in the City. I can enjoy Seattle for the beautiful city that it really is, and love it because my son is there.

Chris grew up close to Seattle with his adoptive family. Therefore, he spent much of his childhood outdoors in or near the water. As I have mentioned, he loves the water and being outside, so, when I go for a visit, we invariably spend most of our time outdoors. Last weekend, I popped into town for a quick visit after the AAC conference in Portland.

As the train headed toward Seattle, I was full of anticipation and eager to see my older son. Both my sons are bright, funny, sensitive and warm young men. Chris is a nature lover like me though and loves to be outside playing in the sunshine. The weather was beyond compare for our time together. The temperature was warm, yet not hot, and the sun shone brightly over the water. It was a glorious afternoon!

Our visit began at the train station where Chris picked me up. Waiting for his arrival, I was almost giddy with excitement. A large van pulled up, and out stepped my ruggedly handsome, 6 ft. tall tow-headed son. He was tanned from all his time spent on the water kite-boarding this summer. When I glanced over and saw him get out of the van, I could feel my face explode into the biggest grin ever. I was so eager and jazzed to see him!
