For part 1 read here. Alison met her birth mother before she became pregnant and was really glad that she did. Her birth mother was able to give her some important medical information. There were some serious genetic predepositions that seemed to run in the family for the women when pregnant.

Alison feels strongly that had she not been aware of these conditions, her doctor might not have known to monitor her closely during her pregnancies. She is thankful for the information, and knows without it that her two children might not have been born healthy.

Alison relished being pregnant and giving birth to her two children. She savors every moment of being a mother, and knows how fortunate she is. I have heard that some female adoptees have some unique issues when they become pregnant and parent.

One of the most amusing parts of her article is her list of advice that she said that she received from both of her mothers. The lists are at the very end of the article! I thought they were very funny!
