Categories: An Introduction of Bloggers, Registries

Some time ago, I wrote a blog about state-run registries, and lamented about the fact that they rarely work. One of the major issues that makes the registries run by states produce neglible results is the lack of manpower and money to run the registry. The other factor is that state registries are not well publicized, so they may not be widely used. I believe I said previously that I have never met a single person who was reunited through their state's registry.

However, Adoption.com has a registry that does work. Here's the Adoption.com registry. I know it works for several reasons. First, I have seen people thanking Adoption.com in their on-line Adoption Week e-magazine. Do you know about this e-magazine? Click HERE to subscribe. It's free, has a very high readership, and has something for all.

Another reason I know that this particular registry works is due to my close friend Kim who searched for her children's birth mother on the site. Since my friend's children were not adopted at birth, she knew their complete names when they came to her. In addition, she knew their birth mother's full name too.

A few years ago, my friend, Kim, told me that she had a strong feeling that her children's birth mother was looking for them. It was merely a hunch; she had no reason to believe this to be the case. Fast forward four more years, and again Kim's intuition suggested that their birth mother was searching for them. This time, she decided to act on her impulses, and started sleuthing on the Internet looking for her children's birth mom. The birth mom's last name was very unusual, so that helped a great deal. One day, Kim sent me an email with a link, and asked me to check it out, and see what it meant.
