Volunteers Needed

Categories: Events, Reg Day

Petra B. Wynbrandt the National RegDay Coordinator is seeking volunteers for the 13th Annual RegDay which is being planned for November 10, 2007. I personally was a little surprised to see his posts and requests for volunteers so early in the year. RegDay is 11 months off. However, for an organization to plan a successful event planning ahead is one important key. I know that in the latter months of 2006 I had wrote about RegDay and tried to encourage triad members to participate. Although I don’t know if I was clear in explaining truly what the day is all about. Petra seems to describe the purpose and mission of the day perfectly. Adoption Registration Day (RegDay) is an annual… [more]

What is Reg Day?

November 28th, 2006
Categories: Events, Reg Day

In the comments to my blog regarding a letter to Karen and Jan, a commenter has asked What is Reg Day? I initially was going to respond in the comment section but thought that Reg Day deserves it’s own blog. Reg Day 2006 was actually held on Saturday, November 18th. Previous years, Reg Day was held in October. This is the first year of a new tradition where Reg Day was held in November because November is National Adoption Awareness Month. Like I said earlier Reg Day is an annual event to increase public awareness of the International Soundex Reunion Registry, which is more commonly known and referred to as the ISRR. The ISRR is a non profit mutual consent registry… [more]

The CUB Retreat – Part 2 – The People

October 28th, 2006

With the exception of a few adoptees, everyone I met at the retreat had relinquished a child to adoption. There were a couple of birth/first moms who were also adoptive moms as well. At least two attorneys are active members, and I know mothers who are nurses, college professors, social workers and teachers. What else? There is a real estate agent, a flight attendant and a lobbyist. Ah, yes, I forgot Sandy Musser, our token convicted felon! After Sandy Musser was introduced, it was mentioned that she is a true example of "walking the walk" as far as family preservation is concerned. Sandy has a two year old, cherubic-like grandson with a killer smile and curly blonde hair. She had a photo of… [more]
